Ivan Blaugh, 85
Ivan Blaugh, 85, of Loon Lake, died at 5:15 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Leesburg, Florida where he was admitted on Wednesday, April 7th.
He was born September 18, 1924 in Whitley County, Indiana a son of Emmett and Lois (Metzler) Blaugh. His formative years were spent in Washington Township. He graduated from Washington Center High School.
On June 30, 1945 he was united in marriage to Mary A. Smith. They made their home on a farm in Washington Township until 1977 when they moved to their home at Loon Lake. For the past 20 years, they have wintered in Florida, spending the past four in Leesburg.
Ivan retired from farming in 1977 and from International Harvester in Fort Wayne in 1983 with nearly 22 years of service.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1906 of which he was President from 1977 until 1982, was Eagle of the Year from 1980 to 1981 and Achievement Award from 1984 to 1985, Trustee, Past President, Entertainment Chairman, and Director of District 6. He was also awarded the Oustanding Neighborhood Poultryman in 1958 from the Whitley County Neighborhood Foundation.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary; four children, Dennis (Marsha) Blaugh, Gail (Bonnie) Blaugh, Barbara (Ed) Thompson and Douglas (Sindy) Blaugh, all of Columbia City; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister, Winifred Pabst of Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Blaugh and two brothers, Kermit Blaugh and Given Blaugh.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery.
