William Miles "Buck" Sheets, 96
William Miles "Buck" Sheets, 96, of Asheboro, North Carolina, passed away at 1:30 p.m. at his home Thursday, April 29, 2010.
Born April 1, 1914 in Canada, he was the son of Joseph Warren and Bertha Ann (Bush) Sheets. He attended school in Whitley County. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy.
On July 14, 1937 he married Anna Delores Watson. She passed away on January 11, 1993.
He worked as a mechanic for Transport Motors Express, Fort Wayne, for 27 years. He lived in Whitley County until 1976 when he moved to Tennessee. While living in Tennessee, he was a member of the VFW. He lived at his present home for the past 4 years.
Survivors include 4 children, Barbara J. (Joe) Kincaid of Asheboro, NC, Richard C. Sheets of Yoder, Howard L. (Faye) Sheets Sneedville, TN and Janice E. (Robert) Kreiser of Yoder; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Grant of Columbia City.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sisters, Hattie Bridigan, Effa Christina Watson, Hazel C. Treesh, Louella Richey and Alta Rose Barton and brother, John Wesley Sheets. A funeral service was held May 5, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial followed in Nolt Cemetery, Columbia City.
