Edith M. Oelschlager, 93

Edith M. Oelschlager, 93, of Columbia City, died at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at The Oaks Living Center where she had been a resident since January 26th.
She was born November 13, 1916 in Whitley County, Indiana a daughter of Harry O. and Leona (Keiser) Schuman. She graduated from Larwill High School and received her nursing degree from Cook County Hospital in Chicago.
On January 26, 1943 she was united in marriage to Herman E. Oelschlager. They made their home in Chicago and later San Francisco before moving to Columbia City. They spent their winters in Sebring, Florida from 1975 until 1989. Mr. Oelschlager died March 25, 1987.
A registered nurse, she worked at Linvill Clinic and Whitley County Memorial Hospital. From 1959 until 1969 the Oelschlagers owned & operated Hillcrest Nursing Home.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Carl A. and Harry L. Oelschlager; twin daughters, Leona (Howard) Walker and Lureen (Jack) Vaught, all of Columbia City; nine grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Farold Schuman.
The funeral service was held Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial was in South Park Annex Cemetery.
