Kermit R. Hollenbaugh, 77

Kermit R. Hollenbaugh, 77, of Jefferson Township, Whitley County, died at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 at his home. He had been in failing health for the past four months.
He was born December 8, 1932, in Laud, Indiana a son of Herbert R. and Edna P. (Wince) Hollenbaugh. He graduated from Jefferson Center High School in 1950 and continued his education in civil engineering at Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne.
On March 4, 1952 he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving as a Police Officer during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged March 3, 1956.
On August 5, 1961 he was united in marriage to Linda E. Raichart. They made their home in Churubusco until 1965 when they moved to their present home in Jefferson Township.
He retired from International Harvester in 1982 with 31 years of service, worked as a security guard at Parkview Whitley Hospital for eight years and Breyers Ice Cream in Huntington for the past four years.
A member of Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, he was a past president of the Men’s Brotherhood, taught Sunday School for many years, was a youth leader for 16 years and assisted with United Methodist Senior High Bike Camp for six years.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Linda; niece/foster daughter, Candy Raichart of Roanoke; a sister, Bonita (Richard) VanDuyn of LaHabra, CA; and three nephews, Richard E. VanDuyn II of LaHabra, CA, Randall VanDuyn of Elgin, IL and Kevin Raichart of Fort Myers, FL.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, 880 E 1100 N, Roanoke with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Preferred memorials may be made to Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
