Michael Edwin Murphy, 56
Michael Edwin Murphy, 56, of Churubusco (Blue Lake), Ind. passed away at 6:25 pm, Saturday, September 4, 2010 at his residence. 
Born on August 31, 1954 in Fort Wayne, Ind., he was the son of Charles and Jean (Bussard) Murphy.
Raised in New Haven, Ind., he graduated from New Haven High School with the Class of 1972, then went on to earn his HVAC Certificate from Ivy Tech Community College. For the past 31 years he has been a resident of Blue Lake. He was employed by Sears as an HVAC Technician for over 21 years. On July 28, 2007 he married Rowena E. Walker in Columbia City, Ind.
He attended Victory Christian Fellowship, Columbia City, and was a Certified HAM Radio Operator, a member of the board of directors of the Blue Lake Association, as well as a trained weather spotter for Northeastern Indiana.
Survivors include his wife, Rowena Murphy of Churubusco (Blue Lake), Ind.; son, Michael Murphy, Jr. of Blue Lake; daughter, Amber Murphy of Akron, IN; step-son, Eric (Vicky) Miner of Kendalville, IN; step-daughters, Amy (Scott) Stansbery and Christina (Justin) Blackwell of Columbia City; step-daughter, Emily Walker of Blue Lake; and sister, Loha Murphy of Coldwater, MI; grandchildren, Makayla, Leah, Taylor and Austin Stansbery of Columbia City, Madison and Mckena Miner of Columbia City, Abby Ramey of Kendalville, Ind., and Adrial Blackwell of Columbia City. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation is from 2pm-5pm and 6pm-8pm on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, Ind. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 10:00 am with calling one hour prior. Pastor David Salyer of Victory Christian Fellowship will officiate. Burial will take place at Butler Cemetery, Butler, Ind. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Murphy to the Goshen Cancer Center; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
