Louise Hershey Daily, 87
Louise Hershey Daily, 87, of Columbia City, died at 6:25 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2011 at Miller’s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since September 2001.
She was born August 29, 1923 in Churubusco, Indiana a daughter of Dr. Ernest A. and Mary Elizabeth (Coldren) Hershey. A lifelong resident of Whitley County, she graduated from Churubusco High School and completed nurses training at St. Joseph Hospital.
A registered nurse, she worked at the VA Hospital in Fort Wayne, J.I. Case in Churubusco, R.R. Donnelly & Sons, Columbia City Nursing Home and Miller’s Merry Manor.
In March 1970 she was united in marriage to George A. Daily. They made their home on Raber Road. Mr. Daily died February 11, 1987.
Surviving relatives include a son, George T. (Lisa) Gerdes of Columbia City; two daughters, Emily L. Munk of Churubusco and Mary E. (Don) Heit; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Gordon Hershey and Dr. Ernest Hershey; and four sisters, Virginia Burris, Margaret Young, Martha Evelyn Hershey and Esther Frederick.
There will be no visitation or service. A private memorial service will be held at a later date at Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
Preferred memorials are to Whitley County Senior Citizens Center or Heartland Hospice.
