C. Wayne Jenkins, 95
C. Wayne Jenkins, 95, formerly of South Whitley, died at 9:32 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Engelwood Health and Rehabilitation, Fort Wayne.
He was born September 3, 1915 in South Whitley a son of Ralph and Hope (Keel) Jenkins. He spent his formative years in the Sidney area. He graduated from Sidney High School.
On February 15, 1936, he was united in marriage to Lucile G. Montel. They made their home in Silver Lake for five years and Wabash County for six years before moving to Cleveland Township, Whitley County in 1947. Mrs. Jenkins died February 6, 2008.
Involved in farming most of his work career, in 1952 his became a farm union organizer, in 1954 he started Jenkins Farm Supply. He became a real estate agent for Schrader Real Estate, Columbia City. After receiving his broker license, in 1979 started Wayne Jenkins Real Estate specializing in farm sales.
He was a member of Pleasant View Church of the Brethren and 9 year Board of Directors Member of the R.E.M.C.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Wanda Lou (David) Wilson of South Whitley; a grandson, Brent (Leslie) Wilson, two great grandsons.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mabel Freed, Mary Jean Rochette and Ruby Mishler and a grandson, Scott Wilson.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Smith & Miller Chapel, South Whitley. There will be a private burial at the South Whitley Cemetery.
