Geraldine "Jeri" Robinette, 87
Geraldine "Jeri" Robinette, 87, of Columbia City, died early Wednesday morning, March 23, 2011 in Naples, Florida.
She was born June 24, 1923 in Wabash County, Indiana a daughter of George W. and Marie (Grimm) Garrison. At the age of six, her family moved to Huntington County. She graduated from Bippus High School. In 1942 she moved to Fort Wayne.
On June 22, 1946 she was united in marriage to Joe A. Auker. They made their home in South Whitley. Dr. Auker died February 1, 1979.
She assisted her husband in the operations of J.A. Auker Veterinary Hospital for nearly 30 years.
On June 14, 1980 she was united in marriage to Harold R. Robinette. In 1987 they moved to Big Cedar Lake. Mr. Robinette died August 21, 2004.
Since 1976 Jeri has been spending her winters in Naples, Florida.
She was a member of South Whitley United Methodist Church and attended The Celebration Church in Naples, Florida.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Ray R. (Jeannie) Auker of North Webster and Marvin L. (Marc Houser) Auker of Fort Wayne; a step son, Roger L. (Barbara) Robinette of Greenwood SC; a step daughter, Sharon K. (Ron) Miller of Bucyrus OH; a daughter-in-law, Judy Auker of South Whitley; six grandchildren, Michelle Harter, Brett (Nikki) Harter, Erica (Will Hill) Auker, Amy (John) Hicks, Melissa (Adam) Craig and Makayla (Eric) Solis; eight great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and four step great grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Jay R. Auker and two sisters, Ninamae Ziegler and Betty Jane Miller Hite.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. The burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Humane Society of Whitley County or South Whitley United Methodist Church.
