Ruby L. Peoples, 89
Ruby L. Peoples, 89, of Fort Wayne, died Friday, April 8, 2011 at Bethlehem Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fort Wayne.
She was born October 15, 1921 in Cleveland Township, Whitley County, Indiana a daughter of the late Rollo and Dessie (Tyner) Steele. Her formative years were spent in Tunker. She graduated from South Whitley High School and then graduated from International Business College in Fort Wayne.
After working various office positions in Fort Wayne, she took an office position with the Pennsylvania Railroad, Fort Wayne where she worked for over 25 years.
In 1954, she was united in marriage to Wayne Peoples. They made their home in Fort Wayne. Mr. Peoples died October 16, 1997. They had no children.
Her memberships included Elmhurst Church of the Nazarene and the Pythian Sisters.
Surviving relatives include 11 nieces and nephews, Marilyn (Donald) Bischoff, St Joseph, MI, Janet (John) Cutshall, Avilla, Arden (Helen) Steele, Bolivia, Roger (Ginny) Steele, Ithaca, NY, Marcia (Daryl) Hendsbee, Grabill, Paul (Becky) Steele, North Manchester, Charles (Patricia) Kinzie, Florida, Anna June Trisler, Florida, Gary (Mireya) Steele, Mexico, Rebecca (Steve) Franks, Ashley and Keith (Sharon) Peoples, Columbia City.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Eugene, John and Carl Steele and one sister, Lucille Kinzie.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The burial will be in the South Whitley Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Sudan Interior Missions (SIM).
