Beatrice Roseann "Rosie" Winger, 83
Beatrice Roseann "Rosie" Winger, 83, formerly of North Manchester, died at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Miller's Merry Manor, Columbia City, where she had been a resident since December 16, 2011.
She was born April 7, 1928 in North Manchester, Indiana a daughter of Riley and Ina (Rhinehart) Lambert. Her formative years were spent in North Manchester and she graduated from Central High School.
On August 1, 1947 she was united in marriage to Arden Joe Winger. They made their home in Fort Wayne and later North Manchester before moving to South Whitley in 1959. In 1988 they began spending their summers at Big Cedar Lake north of Columbia City and their winters in Sebring, Florida. Following Joe's death on January 30, 1989, Rosie moved to Fort Wayne for 10 years before returning to North Manchester in 1999.
A homemaker, she worked at Tranter Printing in South Whitley for over 10 years.
Surviving relatives include three sons, Michael (Debbie) Winger of Columbia City, Matthew (Debbie) Winger of South Whitley and Mitchel (Beckie) Winger of South Whitley; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two sisters, Beverly Schnepp of North Manchester and Lorella Greathouse of Wabash.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Lambert, Riley Eugene Lambert and Max Lambert.
A private family graveside service will be held at Eel River Ulrey Cemetery near Silver Lake. The visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
Preferred memorials are to Miller's Merry Manor Activity Fund.
