Blanche Louise Nichols, 94
Blanche Louise Nichols, 94, of rural Columbia City, died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at her home.
She was born February 18, 1917 in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County a daughter of Ray Jennings and Alice Berniece (Lott) Hively. Her formative years were spent in Thorncreek Township. She graduated from Columbia City High School in 1935.
On June 28, 1935 she was united in marriage to Paul C. Nichols. They made their home in Thorncreek Township until 1939 when they moved to Lorane. Mr. Nichols died October 18, 1952.
She began working at Weatherhead in June 1947, retiring on April 1, 1979.
Surviving relatives include 12 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 31 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Keith C. Nichols and Doyle D. Nichols.
The graveside service will be held at 12 Noon Friday at Greenhill Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Preferred memorials are to Parkview Home Health & Hospice.
Arrangements are being completed at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
