Mary E. Leazier, 84
Mary E. Leazier, 84, formerly of Big Lake, died Tuesday morning, January 10, 2012 at Miller's Merry Manor where she had been a resident since June 2008.
She was born July 16, 1927 in Huntington, Indiana a daughter of John L. and Louise K. (Stark) Slusser Sr. In 1944 her family moved to Big Lake from Huntington. She completed her education at Wolf Lake High School.
During World War II, she worked at General Electric. She was also employed at South Whitley Products, Wolf Lake Products and Knapp Lake Products.
On July 29, 1948 she was united in marriage to Charles L. Leazier. They made their home in Fort Wayne for six months before moving to Big Lake. Mr. Leazier died November 5, 1999.
Her church membership was with Grace Lutheran Church.
Surviving relatives include a son, Edwin Charles (Rhonda) Leazier of Wolf Lake; two grandsons, Cody Geiger and Eric Geiger; four great grandsons; and two sisters, Martha Steury of Fort Wayne and Mary Beth McBride of Syracuse.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Toni Lee Leazier; a brother, John Jr. Slusser; three sisters, Lois Jean Johnson, Gloria Yant and Shirley Ann Slusser; and a half brother, Gerald "Bud" Wampler.
The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Thorn Cemetery, Ormas.
Preferred memorials are to American Cancer Society.
