Paul Eugene Leiter, 62
Paul Eugene Leiter, 62, of rural Pierceton, died at 6:05 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012 at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born April 14, 1949 in Warsaw, IN a son of the late, Cloyce “Dick” and Dorothy (Pernesky) Leiter. His formative years were spent in the Warsaw and Leesburg area. He graduated from Warsaw High School.
On April 1, 1969 he entered the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged March 31, 1971. He returned to the Warsaw area.
He then moved to California for 15 years before returning to the Warsaw area. He completed his work career with over 15 years at Supreme Corp, Goshen.
His memberships include American Legion Post 258 and Legion Riders, Pierceton and ABATE (American Bikers Aimed Towards Education) of Indiana, Region 1.
Surviving relatives include a son, William (Amy) Leiter, California; a brother, Jerry (Beverly) Leiter, Milford; his fiancée, Diane Sroufe and her children, Jennifer (David) Wilder, Columbia City, Janna (Mike) Braden, Larwill and Jody (Shane) Menzie, Larwill; and thirteen grandchildren.
The visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. with the funeral at 2:00 p.m. at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Pastor Ross O’Dell of Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church will officiate. The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 258.
Preferred memorials are to Goshen Cancer Center.
