Girls' Track
Columbia City advances two athletes to the State finals in Bloomington on June 1st. Samantha Roush will compete in the 1600M run, finishing second at the regional with a time of 5:04.58 and met the Standard. Also advancing is junior Carlee Hearld in the high jump. Hearld placed third with a jump of 5-03.25. Columbia City also won the sectional crown at Bluffton earlier in the season.
Churubusco will advance one athlete, Heather Monk, in two events. Monk placed second in the shot put (41-09.75) and third in the discus competition (128-11), meeting the Standard distance.
Boys' Track
Boys' regional track meets continue competition tomorrow as Whitko advanced 12 athletes to the regional. The Wildcats also placed second in the Wayne sectional, 5 1/2 points in front of third place FW Wayne. Columbia City followed in fifth place with 59 points and will advance 7 competitors.
Girls' Tennis
Columbia City lost in the sectional finals to Warsaw 4-1, but not before defeating Whitko 5-0 in the second round. Churubusco lost in the first round to Fort Wayne Northrop 5-0.
Softball
All three area schools lost in the first round of sectional play. Columbia City fell 6-2 to East Noble. Churubusco tripped against Adams Central 2-1. Whitko closed their season with a 2-1 loss against Heritage that went into extra innings.
Baseball
Sectional baseball starts up tomorrow night, but a few sectionals hosted games tonight. Churubusco fell into an early sectional and their first round game was tonight against Eastside. Columbia City will travel to Snider for a 7 pm start and Whitko will host Norwell for a 7:30 pm start on Friday.
