ISMS 7th grade football victorious over Summit
By Jennifer Zartman Romano
The Indian Springs Middle School 7th grade football team defeated Summit Middle School tonight with a score of 18-6, bringing their season record to 2-0.
The defensive line included Kohle Hoeppner, LG Whetstone, Drew Cummins and Michael Simmons did an impressive job of shutting down the run, according to coach Mike Roy.
“Linebackers Drew Odell and Braden Meyer, as well as corner backs Josh Whitehead and Justin Bachelder, punished the ball carrier repeatedly,” Roy said this evening.
“Our safeties Beau Barkley and TJ Yagle did a great job,” added Roy.
“Offensively we never got the passing game going, but the running game was working perfectly,” said Roy. “The Eagles never gave up the ball via a punt tonight. We managed to keep out drives alive.”
“Braden Meyer at running back did an outstanding job moving the ball,” continued Roy. “Josh Whitehead at quarterback scored all 3 touchdowns on runs. His ability to break tackles and find the opening and his speed allowed us to run outside.”
ISMS 7th grade coaches include Brian Bills, Mike Roy and Ken Wolfe.
“We’re very proud of the effort our kids put forth tonight,” added Roy.
