All three area schools competed in the cross country sectionals on Tuesday night, with many individual runner advancing to Saturday's regional tournament.
Columbia City advanced both teams to the regional tournament as the girls finished second and th boys finished fourth.
Whitko also hauled in both teams to the regional race as the girls finished fifth and the boys finished second, while Churubusco missed out by one spot for both teams.
Top area runners for the boys:
Brian Menzie (16:41) from Whitko in 5th, Trapper Mize (16:56) from Whitko in 6th, Sean Eberly (17:13) from Whitko in 8th, David Potter (17:37) from Columbia City in 17th, and Davon Geiger (17:53) in 25th from Churubusco.
Top area runners for the girls:
Renee Menzie (18:53) from Columbia City in 2nd, Laken Lefever (19:13) in 4th from Columbia City, Carlee Hearld (20:08) from Columbia City in 11th, Mercedes Zello (20:10) in 12th from Columbia City, Alexandria Eyer (20:20) from Churubusco in 14th, and Whitko's Aubrey Smith (20:34) in 15th.
