State Bound!

The Columbia City Lady Eagle runners are headed to the State Finals next Saturday afternoon in Terre Haute, Indiana.

After a 40-minute wait, Columbia City was announced as a 6th place qualifier for the meet. The last time Columbia City competed in the State Finals was in 1986 and the last time they sent an individual was in 1989.

"The coaches and team are on top of the world. We did an outstanding job and beat a lot of highly regarded state-ranked teams," head coach Bob Fahl commented.

If the Lady Eagle runners didn’t make it as a team, they did also qualify two individuals for the meet. Junior runners Renee Menzie and Laken Lefever placed 10th (19:33) and 15th (19:41), respectively.

"The community should be very ecstatic for this team," Fahl concluded.

More to come later tonight.
