Girls' track results from the Turtle Town Classic
Churubusco hosted a girls' track classic over the weekend, hosting 24 teams across two divisions. Columbia City competed in the big school division, missing first place by 1/2 point behind Carroll. Churubusco competed in the small school division, missing second place by 6 points behind Garrett.
In the big school division, Columbia City's field events racked up the points as Kinsey Kauffman (5-1) was first in the high jump and Mallory Vandersaul (9-6) won the pole vault. Eagle Cassie Gareiss (15-1 1/2) placed third in long jump, while Emily Radke (38-5) place third in shot-put and second in discus (109-1), as teammate Brianna Whitehead (111-9) won the event.
For the Columbia City track events, Lady Eagle junior Renee Menzie (11:29.96) took home a third place finish in the 3200-meter run, as Corinna Raypole (16.8) finished second in the 110-meter hurdles.
In the small school division, Churubusco's Peyton Summers (13.47) won in the 100-meter dash and took third (29.11) in the 200-meter dash. Lady Eagle Alex Eyer (12:51.42) was third in the 3200-meter run and teammate Heather Monk won discus (126') and shot-put (36').
