2010 High School Football Outlook
Start the countdown because we are a week away from Friday Night Lights. And a week away from starting up a new season of Friday's Football Forecast, where I take a glance into the crystal ball and try to predict the scores for all three area schools. Except this year, there might be a little twist...
In the spirit of preseason rituals, here are the outlooks for the three area schools.
Columbia City
Head coach: Randy Hudgins 2009 record: 4-8 (loss in sectional final)
# of starters returning on Offense: 8 # of starters returning on Defense: 7
Players to watch for:
Logan Rehrer QB, Cory Clifford ILB, Jacob Moser DL/OL, Andrew Tourney OL/DL, Stephen Farrer WR
Make sure to make it to this game in 2010: Week 1 vs. Warsaw
Coach's comments: Everything is in place for us to have a successful season. We experienced some success at the end of last year, we have a large number of experienced and talented players back, our opening schedule has several home games, and we are coming off a good off-season of preparation. This can translate into a great season if our seniors demand discipline, great attitude, and great effort from themselves and the team. You win with good people who play together as one.
Churubusco
Head coach: Lee Etzler 2009 record: 10-2 (conference champs)
# of starters returning on Offense: 6 # of starters returning on Defense: 8
Players to watch for:
Kyle Monk QB/S, Kyle Mathewson FB/OLB, Jordan Turner TE/OLB, Dustin Arvola T/DT
Make sure to make it to this game in 2010: Week 5 vs. Angola
Coach's comments:We have some good skilled kids returning and overall team speed should be as good as we have had. However, we will need younger kids to step up and fill a few key holes.
Whitko

# starters returning on Offense: 8 # starters returning on Defense: 8
Players to watch for:
Alex Stoddard QB, Dakota Harmon FB, DJ Fouce RB, Derek Snep WR
Make sure to make it to this game in 2010: Week 2 vs. Columbia City
Coach's comments: We have to replace all-conference quarterback Gabe Starkey who threw for 814 yards last year, but goals are set to become a more ball control offense and hold our opponents to 12 or less points per game.
