Soccer sectionals
Girls
Columbia City lost in the first round to Homestead 3-0 on Oct. 6. Homestead ended up being the sectional champions.
Whitko moved soccer from a club to a sport this year and in their first year playing as a member of the IHSAA, the Wildcats won their sectional 2-1 in overtime against Blackford on Saturday. The Wildcats will take on FW Concordia, on the campus of FW Canterbury, October 15 at 1 pm. The winner of the match moves on to the semi-state rounds.
Boys
Columbia City made it to the sectional finals by beating Huntington North in the first round 2-1 in overtime. In the sectional final match, the Eagles fell to Homestead 10-0.
Whitko fell 9-0 in the first round of sectionals to FW Concordia. This year was the first year for Whitko in the IHSAA for soccer.
Cross Country State Tournament
All three schools send their boys and girls teams to sectionals tonight at Marion starting at 5 pm. Results to come later.
Volleyball sectionals
Columbia City opens 4A sectional tournament play on Oct. 18 and drew FW North Side in the first round. Sectional #5 is hosted by Carroll.
Churubusco opens the first round of 2A sectionals against South Adams on Oct. 18. Sectional #36 is hosted by South Adams.
Whitko picked up first round opponent Eastbrook in the 3A sectionals on Oct. 18. Sectional #23 is hosted by Norwell.
Football sectionals
Columbia City ends the regular season Friday against Norwell and will open up the first round of sectionals next week at home against FW Bishop Dwenger.
Churubusco finishes the season on the road against Lakeland, where the winner will have sole possession of the NECC title. The Eagles drew a game at Woodlan for their first round of sectional play.
Whitko completes their season with a home game against Tippy Valley. The Wildcats travel to FW Concordia for their first round sectional contest.
