The Whitley County Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center is pleased to announce the headlining entertainment and entertainment sponsors for the 2021 Whitley County Spring Outdoor EXPO in downtown Columbia City. The event featuring live music, booths, shopping and prizes is slated for Friday evening, May 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Van Buren & Chauncey Streets in downtown Columbia City. The community is invited to attend this free event.
“Thanks to the generous support of our entertainment sponsors, Morsches Builders Mart, City Automall and Teghtmeyer Ace Hardware, the band The Debutants will be our featured entertainment this Friday evening,” said Jennifer Romano, executive director of the Whitley County Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center.
Self-described as Indiana’s Newgrass, the band is influenced by traditional and modern bluegrass. Band members include Lynn Nicholson (vocals, mandolin and percussion), Jon Swain (vocals and guitar), Colin Taylor (vocals and bass), Michael Earl Newsome (banjo), Sean Hoffman (fiddle) and Tyler Thompson (drums).
The Debutants will perform on the corner of Chauncey and Van Buren Street. Bring your own chairs and plan to enjoy a lively show.
“Morsches Builders Mart is proud to sponsor the Chamber of Commerce’s Whitley County Outdoor Expo this year. Supporting and offering exposure to our fellow community businesses is an important part of helping our town thrive and be successful,” said Franz Morsches, owner of Morsches Builders Mart, a major sponsor of the 2021 Spring Outdoor EXPO. “We are especially excited to just see everyone’s faces out and about again!”
“This year, we celebrate 150 years in business in Columbia City and we are thankful we are growing with the times and are able to meet and hopefully exceed the needs and expectations of our customers,” added Morsches. “Our team of employees make it all happen and we look forward to serving our fantastic community for years to come!”
“The Chamber EXPO is a great way for businesses to connect with the community and showcase what makes them unique. Teghtmeyer Ace is proud to sponsor this event and we look forward to seeing many from our community on the 21st,” said Jonathan South, store manager of Teghtmeyer Ace Hardware, a sponsor of the event. “We hope to provide a glimpse into some of our new products services at the EXPO and we hope to provide some entertainment for those who visit our booth,” South adds.
“City Ford and City Chevrolet are proud to partner with the Whitley County Chamber of Commerce to help promote other local area businesses,” said Kasey Shirey, managing partner of City Ford/City Chevrolet, a sponsor of the event. “With the continued global advancement of online shopping, we feel it is more important now than ever before to support those who live and work in our own community,” continued Shirey. “Without business and industry, we have no community! We are hoping to see many of the smiling faces of our past customers as well as meet many new ones!”
The event is also being generously supported by Easterseals Passages and Aumsbaugh Flooring.
Limited booth space may be available. For further information, contact the Chamber at (260) 248-8131 or email office@whitleychamber.com
Proceeds from the event will support the Whitley County Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center, a non-profit organization founded in 1919 to serve the needs of businesses and non-profit organizations in the community through advocacy, as a resource for information and a champion for community interests.
